Sabine and her extraordinary, utterly bewildering laugh are back !
This time strapped to the rack, arms stretched wide, armpits completely defenseless and perfectly exposed. Her sides, her belly button, her underarms — every square inch of her upper body turns out to be catastrophically sensitive.
At some point, under sufficient duress, she begins speaking German.
This is not a choice. This is what happens when Sabine’s nervous system runs out
of French. The rack holds. The laughter doesn’t stop. Sabine is somewhere in the
middle, trying to survive both.
